Ronald Pate Sampley

Ronald Pate Sampley, 72, of Buckhannon passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. He was born November 15, 1948 in Wilmington, NC, son of the late Ted and Dorothy Pate Sampley.

Ronald was a United States Navy veteran, serving in Vietnam. He worked in Langley, VA at NASA and had a large collection of NASA memorabilia. Ronald also worked as a master electrician. He loved herb gardening and would build his own greenhouses. He later became a pastor and enjoyed going on mission trips all around the world. Ronald was diagnosed with cancer in 2012. Throughout all of his health struggles, he really focused on ministering to people online about the Lord Jesus and Christianity. He frequently made videos regarding the Holy Bible, witnessing to others about God’s Love and would also discuss the benefits of healthy eating, living a healthy lifestyle, and supplements. Ronald was a very active member in several online cancer groups and would share information with others as much as he could. He would often minister to other’s struggling with health and mental issues and those less fortunate.

Ronald is survived by his wife of many years, Debra Woody Sampley; children, Kimberly Sampley Evans of Chesapeake, VA and Barbara Ann Sampley of Elizabeth City, NC; grandchildren, Christian, Skylar, Leigha, Lukas, Raya, and Kayla Hedrick, Tiffany and Ashley Evans, Ayden Olivar; three great grandchildren; step children, Joshua and David Woody and Jennifer Bunner; step grandchildren, Jaiden Fordyce, Rylee, Kaitlyn, and Jolene Chapman, Arianna, Samuel, Brycen, and Johnathan Woody; a special step-granddaughter, Jennifer Kauffman Kennedy, as well as several other step children, step grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

 In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his two brothers, Mike and Ted Sampley.

 A Celebration of Life will be held at Way of Holiness Church, 2337 Old Weston Road, Buckhannon, WV 26201, on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 11:30 AM with Pastor Jerry Murrell and Pastor Dave Cunningham officiating and with military honors being presented by the US Navy Honor Guard and Upshur County Honor Guard. A memorial lunch in Ronald's honor will follow in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
