Larrietta (Swiger) Merritt

Larrietta Merritt, 63, of Clarksburg passed away at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport on Sunday, December 12, 2021. She was born May 31, 1958 in Clarksburg, the daughter of the late Larry and JoAnn Underwood Swiger.

Larrietta graduated from Doddridge County High School and Salem College. She worked as a CNA for many years at Clarksburg Continuous Care and many other local nursing homes. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, as well as working crossword puzzles. Larrietta was a caregiver to many friends, relatives, and clients over the years. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Larrietta is survived by two sons, Matthew Merritt of Del City, OK and Joshua Merritt, Clarksburg; one daughter, Danielle Merritt and fiancé, James “Jim” Jones, both of Clarksburg; five grandchildren, Logan Dean, Gabrielle Perry, Hunter Perry, Kraven Merritt, and Scarlett Merritt; four sisters, Cindy Pratt, OH,  Anita Underwood, Stephanie Moore, and Casey Robinson, all of Salem; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Larrietta was preceded in death by her husband, David Merritt, as well as Archie Merritt and Cathryn Merritt.
